How Do You Get Internet to Work on the Mini iPhone CECT KA08? Can You Get Online For Free?
There has been a lot of interest in the new mini iPhone clone that is as small as a credit card and comes in most of the colors of the rainbow. This cute little phone has all of the features without the large size and without the large price tag. Many of the questions that I get about this one has to do with Internet usage. Rest assured that the small size of the phone doesn’t mean that CECT has taken out the ability to browse the web. They certainly haven’t. This is one of the main selling features of the phone. I will discuss this more in the following article.
What You Need To Use The Internet On The CECT KA08: I often get questions from confused folks who tell me that they inserted the SIM card, tried to use the WAP browser, and are not getting a variety of error messages. When I ask them if they have updated their settings to reflect the data package that they are using, they often have no clue what I mean. Some people think that you can insert a talk and text (MMS, SMS), SIM into the phone without having any data included and it will work. This isn’t the case. That would be like inserting a SIM for which you have only paid for talk and expecting to send picture messages.
The phone comes with everything that you need to get online. But in order to use this feature, you will need to either have a web package included with your carrier or you’ll need to add it or buy a data SIM. Since this phone has dual SIM slots, this should not be very difficult. I know that many people do not want to have to pay a large monthly fee for Internet usage. You really shouldn’t have to. There are pre paid cards that include data. Go Phone has usage starting at $4.99 per month. You can also find unlimited cards which include data, talk, and text for around $25. What I really like about both is that there is no obligation. If you decide one month that you don’t need to get online, then you just don’t pay for it for that month but then you can pick it back up when you wish.
Assuming that you do have data on your card and you still can’t get the Internet to work, make sure that both cards are installed correctly first and then check to see if your data, WAP, GPRS, and MMS settings are pointing to whatever carrier that you are using and that the information is updated and correct. (For example, if all of this is pointing to say, China Mobile, you will need for it to reflect your GSM carrier (T Mobile, AT&T, Fido, etc.) And even if you see your carrier there, go in and make sure that there are any typos or errors.
Most of the time, you can get these settings from your carrier. If not, you can typically get user’s manuals that outline each and every step for set up including the settings for just a few bucks. There is also software that takes almost all of the work out of it.
Is Surfing The Net Free On The CECT KA08 Mini?: Well, we’ve already discussed how you need a data plan. Now, if your monthly plan includes web access for free, then I guess technically you aren’t paying for it. The truth is, this is going to cost you whatever the amount is that you are paying for data, which should not be much.
There is a misconception that if you use Opera Mini you don’t have to pay for the Internet. I have never known this to be true. I think that the misconception likes in the fact that Opera Mini browser itself is free, but the phone can’t work without the use of the data package. This can be had at a very low cost, but I don’t believe the people who claim that they are getting online for free. I think that they probably have web use included on their card and are just not aware of this.
